Margaret Blakely Rogers was born April 14, 1929 in Greenville, SC, the daughter of William Fredrick Blakely and Lola Maxwell Blakely,

1930 Census Information:

According to the U. S. Census recorded on April 16, 1930, William F Blakely (28) rented a home in Greenville, Greenville, South Carolina, with his wife Lola Blakey (28). It was reported that they were married when William was 22 and Lola was 22, placing their marriage about 1924. Also in the home was their child Margaret Blakely (11 months old). All of the household members were reported to have been born in South Carolina. William F Blakely was a cotton bailer at a cotton mill.

1930 Census Information:

According to the U. S. Census recorded on April 17, 1940, W Fred Blakely (38) rented a home in Austin, Greenville, South Carolina. Also in the home was his wife Lola Blakely (39) and children; Margaret Blakely (11) and William Blakely (8). All of the household members were reported to have been born in South Carolina. It was also reported that the family had lived in another home in rural, Greenville, South Carolina on April 1, 1935. W Fred Blakely was a fire keeper for the W. P. A. Road Construction and Lola Blakely did house work at home.

A graveside funeral service for Margaret Blakely Rogers will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Michael Arant will officiate. Memorials may be sent to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Margaret died Monday, September 28, 2020. Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Fredrick Blakely and Lola Maxwell Blakely, and wife of the late Sherman Arthur Rogers. Margaret worked for ten years as a nurse on the Karesh Wing at Kershaw County Hospital. A member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, Margaret was also a member of the Friendship Sunday School and was very active in the UMW and Department of Disabilities and Special Needs.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Rogers (Linda) of Camden; daughters, Carol Deane of Adairsville, GA, Janet Rogers of Camden, Linda Forrester (Vello) of Camden, and Tricia Meadors (John) of Columbia; grandchildren, Stephanie Leland Napper (Sam), Katherine Rogers Fox (Harper), Sara Rogers Johnson (Nate), Vello Forrester, III, Dylan Forrester (Connor), Blakely Meadors, Maggie Meadors, John Meadors, Jr., and Perry Meadors; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was predeceased by her grandson, Brian Leland; brother, William Blakely; and son-in-law, Bill Deane.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
