Rodney Scott Patterson (Scott), fifty-two years old, of Pembroke Pines, FL, passed away on July 6, 2020, after a long and courageous fight with cancer.

The funeral service will be held at noon at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC. Pastor Larry Fortson, Missionary Pastor will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden, SC.

Scott was born in Charlotte, NC on November 8, 1967. He graduated from Camden Military Academy and continued on to receive a B.S. in Psychology from Appalachian State University.

Scott was married to Roxana Giselle Lozano on November 13, 1990; they were married twenty-nine years. Scott and Roxana had two children, Abigail Rose Patterson (Abby) and Philip Scott Patterson.

Scott worked for the Charlotte Police Department for two years before beginning flight school. He was also active in the Army Reserves and was called back to full-time duty to support the Haiti Operation after the earthquake. During his time in Haiti, Scott was promoted to Lt. Colonel. Following the Haiti Operation, Scott returned as a full-time pilot with American Airlines, where he worked for twenty years. He enjoyed volunteering and spent time in Mexico and Haiti in missions work. He was a volunteer at Civil Air Patrol and was a pilot mentor for Mesa Airlines. Scott was also a member of Plantation Baptist Church.

Scott is survived by his wife Roxana, his children Abby and Philip; his mother Barbara Hawkins of TX; his sisters Kathy Lynn Mackison of SC, Millicent Dawn McAtee of NY, and Kim Hawkins of TX; his brother Chris Hawkins of TX; grandparents Charlie and Rose Byrd of SC; and other family and friends.

Scott is preceded in death by his father Bobby Street Patterson II and his grandmother Rose Doggett.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Plantation Baptist Church, Plantation, FL. The family of Rodney Scott Patterson wishes to thank Plantation Baptist Church and all of those who contributed to assist with the funeral expenses.
