Shirley Hunter Johnson, was born, Sunday, August 25, 1940 in Bethune, she was the daughter of Julius C. Hunter and Annie Mae Campbell Hunter.
Shirley Hunter Johnson, 76, of Lugoff, wife of the late James Howard Johnson, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016.
She retired from Richland Memorial Hospital where she was a Registered Nurse. She was a faithful member of Lugoff First Baptist Church and served in missions with North American Missions. She enjoyed traveling and reading.
Surviving were her son, Kelly Johnson (Michelle G.) of Lugoff; brothers, Donald Hunter (Mozelle), Morris Hunter (Janice) and Avery Hunter (Cindy); sister, Rachel Rentas; grandchildren, Christi Clark (Michael) and John Lee Watson; great-grandson, Matthew Clark; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Jimmy Johnson; brother, Floyd Hunter; and sister, Emmie Zirkle.
Graveside service was held on Monday 11:00 a.m. in Lugoff First Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. David Robinson officiated. The family received friends Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.
