Helen Pauline Combs Howell

Helen Pauline Combs Howell, was born on October 10, 1932 in Roan Mountain, Tennessee,  a daughter of  Herbert Leon Combs and Rula Mae Fair Combs.

Helen Pauline Combs Howell, 84, of Elgin died Saturday, December 24, 2016.

Helen, who loved the Lord, was a member of Jackson Creek Baptist Church. Known as the light of her family, she was an excellent mother and a wonderful companion and had a heart as big as all outdoors.

Mrs. Howell was survived by her husband of 61 years, George C. Howell; daughters, Pam Watts (Clay) and Cindy Roberts and Robbie Shell (Pamela); granddaughters, Elisa Roberts-Oglesby (Allen) and Rachel Shell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

The graveside service was held at 12 o’clock on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, assisted the family. Memorials may be made to In Touch Ministries, PO Box 7900, Atlanta, GA 30357 or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
