Bertha “Bert” Nelson Goff

Bertha “Bert” Nelson Goff, was the widow of James Boykin “Jimmy” Goff and the daughter of the late Logan Benjamin and Bernice Jeffers Nelson. She was a former employee of Jaclyn Mills Hosiery Company and a member of Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Goff played the organ and piano at Highway Church. She taught many others to play the piano – at the time of her death she was still teaching piano.

Surviving are sister, Ernestine Rabon of Lugoff; brothers, Lindsay Nelson ( Mary) of Myrtle Beach and Lloyd Nelson (Dot) of Elgin; step-sons; Andrew “AD” Goff and Clinton Goff, both of Elgin; a number of nieces and nephews and step grands and great grands.

She was predeceased by sisters, Mae Herietta Nelson and Edith Horton and brothers, Lonnie B. Nelson and Lehman Nelson.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at her beloved Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church. Rev. Paul Miles and Rev. George Cashwell officated. Kornegay Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
