Levi Glenn McKay was born in March 14, 1930 in Elgin, South Carolina, the son of Glen Marion McKay and Kathleen Walker McKay.

1930 Census Information:

According the the United States Census recorded on April 22, 1930, Gleann Mckay (27) rented a home in Blythewood, Richland County, South Carolina with his wife Cathaline Mckay (20). It was reported that the were married when he was 24 and she was 17. Also in the home was their children; Ruby E Mckay (1) and Levi G Mckay (1 month). All family members were reported to have been born in South Carolina. Gleann was a farmer on a general farm.

1940 Census Information:

According the the United States Census recorded on May 4, 1940, Glen M Mckay (37) rented a home in Blythewood, Richland County, South Carolina with his wife Katheen Mckay (28) and their children; Ruby Mckay (11), Levi Mckay (10), Joe S. Mckay (7), Woodroe Mckay (5), Louise Mckay (3) and Lola M Mckay (1). All family members were reported to have been born in South Carolina and lived in the same house on April 1, 1935. Glen M was a farm operator.

2001

KERSHAW Mr. Levi Glenn McKay, 71, of 2786 Lockhart Road, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral services for Mr. McKay will be held 3 PM Thursday, June 7, at the Cauthen Funeral Home Kershaw Chapel, with the Reverend Don Knight and Reverend William Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. McKay was born March 14, 1930 in Elgin, SC, a son of the late Glenn Marion and Kathleen Walker McKay. He served in the United States Army, retired from Shakespeare, Inc., and attended Refuge Baptist Church.

Mr. McKay is survived by his wife Marcine Anderson McKay; one son, Mr. Richard S. McKay of Hopkins, SC; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Cindy) Wright of Lancaster; three brothers, Jess McKay of Elgin, Woodrow McKay of Chapin and Johnny J. McKay of West Columbia; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Wright of West Columbia, Mrs. Louise Lee of Gaston, SC, Mrs. Bob (Lola) Haught and Mrs. Gary (Eunice) Dial, both of Elgin; one granddaughter, Wendy Hodge; and a great grandchild, Madison Hodge.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Mark Wise.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at the Cauthen Funeral Home in Kershaw, and other times at the home of Paul and Wendy Hodge, 2792 Lockhart Road.
