Surviving, in addition to his wife, are 2 sons, Gilmer Waymon Thomas, Jr. of Alpharetta and Walter Clexton Thomas of Fayetteville; a daughter, Doris Rye of Douglasville; 2 brothers, Gomer Thomas and Grady Thomas, both of Carnesville; 4 sisters, Mabell Segars and Joann Segars, and Lorene Perkins, all of Lavonia, and Ozell Pritchett of Carnesville; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on September 21, 1996, at Whitley-Garner Funeral Home in Douglasville. Burial was in Rosehaven Cemetery.
