Roxie Alice Christmas Rose was born January 17, 1872 in South Carolina, a daughter of of William Jerome Christmus and Lucinda Permelia Reville Christmus.

1880 Census Information:

According to the United States Census reported in June 1880, William Christmas (59) lived in Fairfield County, South Carolina, with his wife; Amelia Christmas (52) and their children; Bramlett Christmas (17), Virginia Christmas (12), Kate Christmas (10), and Roxey Christmas (8). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. William Christmas was a farmer, Amelia Christmas kept house and Bramlett Christmas was a farm hand.

1900 Census Information:

According to the United States Census reported on June 1, 1900, Adolphus Rose (36) owned a home in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife of 8 years, Roxana Rose (28). She reported being the mother of 4 children, all living. Also in the home were their children; Maud C Rose (7), Olive P Rose (5), Boyton K Rose (4) and Eva B Rose (1). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphus Rose was a farmer.

1910 Census Information:

According to the United States Census reported on April 18, 1910, Adolphus Rose (46) owned a farm in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie Rose (38) who was the mother of 10 children all of whom still survived. They shared their home with children, Maud Rose (17), Amelia Rose (15), Boykin Rose (13), Eva Rose (10), Allice Rose (8), Mamie Rose (6), Lena Rose (4), Norman Rose (3), Lillie Rose (5 months) and Clelly Rose (5 months). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphus Rose was a farmer on a general farm.

1920 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recording on January 7, 1910, Adolphis K Rose (55) owned a farm in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie Rose (47), and children; Mellia Rose (24), Boykin Rose (23) Eva Rose (20), Allie Rose (18), Mamie Rose (16), Lena Rose (14), Norman Rose (12), Lellie Rose (10), Clelye Rose (10) and Louise Rose (7). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphis K Rose was a salesman in a grocery store, Mellia Rose was a clerk in a dry goods store, and Boykin Rose was a mail carrier for rural delivery.

1923

On September 28, 1923, Mrs. Adolphus Rose was listed as the living sister in the obituary of W. J. Christmus.

1927

On January 10, 1927, Mrs. A. K. Rose was listed as the mother in the obituary of “Mamie I Rose Ross.”

1928

On January 1, 1928, Mrs. A. K Rose was listed in the newspaper article, “Blaney.”

1930 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recording on May 9, 1930, Adolphus K Rose (66), owned a farm in Wateree Township, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie A Rose (47). They reported themselves as having been married when he was 29 and she was 20. They shared with home with children; Allie M Rose (27), Norman K Rose (23), Clelye C Rose (20), Lely V Rose (20), Louise H Rose (17) and Lena B Ward (24) who was divorced; and grandchild, Randolph W Ward (2). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. Adolphus K Rose was a farmer on a general farm, and Norman K Rose was a clerk at a grocery store.

1935

On December 1, 1935, Mrs. A. K. Rose was listed in the newspaper article “Holly-Rose.”

1940 Census Information:

According to the United States Census recording on May 12, 1940, Adolphus Kennedy Rose (76), owned a farm in Balney, Kershaw, South Carolina, also in the home was his wife, Roxie Christmas Rose (68) and daughters; Allie Mae Rose (38) and Lelye Virginia Rose (32). It was reported the family members were all born in South Carolina. The reported living in rural, Kershaw County, South Carolina on April 1, 1935. It was also reported that none of the family members worked.

1958

On September 14, 1958, Mrs. A. K. Rose was listed in the newspaper article “Gebhart-Rose Marriage Announced.”

1960

Roxie Christmas Rose, 88, passed away on July 14, 1960. Burial was in the Blaney Baptist Church Cemetery.

On September 8, 1987, Roxie Christmus Rose was listed as the deceased mother in the obituary of Miss Allie Mae Rose.
