S. L. Shannon, 61, Lugoff, Dies

Samuel L Shannon, 61, of Rt. 2, Lugoff, died Saturday after a period of declining health.

He was born at Kershaw County, the son of the late Sam T. Johnson and Alice Atkinson Shannon. He was a farmer.

Mr. Shannon was a member of the Spears Creek Baptist Church near Pontiac.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Shannon: five daughters, Mrs. Sarah Richardson of Lugoff, Mrs. Helen Martin of Columbia, Mrs. Lilie Mae Martin of Columbia, Mrs. Rebecca Weems of Pine George, Va. and Mrs. Pauline Hornsby of Blaney; four sons, James Lee Shannon of Lugoff, Rufus Shannon of Lugoff, Clyde Shannon of Ridgeway and Robert (Bobby) Shannon of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Sloan of Columbia and Mrs. Annie Branham of Columbia; three half sister, Mrs. Allie Rabon of Columbia; Mrs. Mae Jackson of Lugoff and Mrs. Irene Blizzard of Lugoff; one brother, John Shannon of Lugoff; and a half brother, Allie Richardson of Blaney.

Funeral plans are incomplete.

The body will be at Paschal Funeral Home.
