C. S. Sloan’s Funeral Sunday

Funeral services for Charlie Samuel Sloan, who died at his home near Blaney Friday, will be held at the Spears Creek Baptist Church at 4 p.m. Sunday conducted by the Rev. Leslie Kirkland and the Rev. John Atkinson. Interment will be in the churchyard.

Active pallbearers will be Ernest Miles, Vernon Brazell, Sadie Lee, Arnold Porter, Ernest Kirkland and Teenie Kirkland. They are requested to meet at the residence at 3:15.

The body will remain at the Talbert Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Sunday when it will be carried to the home to await the hour of the services.

Mr. Sloan was born in Blaney, a son of the late Samuel Sloan and Laura Harwell Sloan. He was a member of the Concord Baptist Church near Blaney, and was a retired farmer.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dora Richardson and Mrs. Pansy Richardson, both of Blaney, and Mrs. Ada Miles of Columbia; two sons, Troy W. Sloan of Columbia and Paul H. Sloan of Kansas City; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Daisy Branham of Blaney, and a number of nieces and nephews.

C. S. Sloan Of Blaney Dies

Charlie Samuel Sloan, 67, died at his home near Blaney at 6:30 yesterday afternoon, after ten years of declining health.

Mr. Sloan was born in Blaney, a son of the late Samuel Sloan and Laura Harwell Sloan. He was a member of the Concord Baptist Church near Blaney, and was a retired farmer.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dora Richardson and Mrs. Pansy Richardson, both of Blaney, and Mrs. Ada Miles of Columbia; two sons, Troy W. Sloan of Columbia and Paul H. Sloan of Kansas City; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Daisy Branham of Blaney, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from Spears Creek Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon at a time to be announced. Interment will be in the churchyard.

The body will remain at the Talbert Funeral Home until 9 o’clock Sunday morning, at which time it will be taken to the residence.

On September 17, 1955, Charlie S. Sloan was listed in the newspaper article “Deaths.”
