Obituary for Grady T. Bowers, Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Grady Theodore Bowers, Sr., age 82, of Westville, S.C., will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, September 10, 2022, in the Refuge Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Rev. Evan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, September 10, 2022, one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Mr. Bowers, passed away, Tuesday evening, September 6, 2022, in MUSC Downtown, Columbia, S.C. Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Coleman and Blanche Baker Bowers. He was a former employee of Springs Industries. Mr. Bowers was a member of Refuge Baptist Church. He was a talented carpenter and machinist. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his grandson, Charlie R. Wells and his wife, Shelby; 2 great grandsons, Colt and Caleb; 3 sisters, Diane Roberts, Voncile Sims, Vivian (Fred) Huggins, 3 brothers, Dennis (Stacy) Bowers, Edward Bowers and Travis (Linda) Bowers. He is also survived by his special friend, Audrey Waites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Lee Hunter Bowers; his son, Grady Theodore “Ted” Bowers; a sister, Debra Truesdale and 3 brothers, G.C. Bowers, Jr., Roddy Lee Bowers and Wayne Bowers.
