Obituary

Mother  Armie  Jean  Sanders  was  born  April  12,  1938,  in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the late Herman Scales and Mother Willie Lee  (Sally) Scales.    She  was  the  baby sister  of  four, Ruby  Scales Smith  Mahan  &  Reppie  Olivia  Scales  who  have  preceded  her  in death  and  she  is  survived  by  Hermie  Lee  Scales  McMikles  of Peterson, Alabama.

Armie Jean married her first love, Mr. Johnnie Peebles (deceased), in  1955  and  moved  to  Baltimore  Maryland  in  1957.    From  that union,  five  children  were  born,  and  one  child,  Michaelangelo Peebles, preceded her  in  death.   Widowed at  young  age,  she  then met  and  married  the  love  of  her  life  Deacon  Clifford  Sanders  in 1973.   From that union one child was born, Marvin Xavier Peebles who has preceded her in death.

She became a Christian at an early age and joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Peterson, AL.  Later in life, she joined Mt. Zion Baptist where she was a member of the choir and attended for as long as her  health  allowed.    She  was  fondly  known  throughout  the community as ‘Armie’  and to a select few ‘Gino’.    Devoted Wife, Sister,  Mother,  Step-Mother,  Aunt,  Grandmother, Great-Grandmother  and  Great-Great  Grandmother,  her  many  passions included  cooking,  traveling  and  fashion.    She  was  known  for  her many  hats  both  literally  and  figuratively  (she  owned  over  100 hats!)

As Armie makes her journey into eternity, those left to cherish the wonderful  memories  of  her  life  are  her  sister,  Mrs.  Hermie-Lee Scales  McMikles  of  Peterson  AL,  her  daughters;  Brenda  (Rick)   Little of Byron GA, Wanda Ocain of Baltimore MD,  son Johnnie Peebles  of  Camden  SC,  and  her  loving,  devoted  husband  of  49 years,  Mr.  Clifford  Sanders  of  Camden  SC;  nineteen  grandchildren, twenty-six great-great grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
