On August 30, 1953, Walter Herbert Price was listed as the father on the death certificate of Walter Herbert Price, Jr.

2021

Walter Herbert Price, 93, of Lugoff and Greenville/Taylors, passed away peacefully under hospice at his daughter and son-in-law’s home on Thursday, October 7, 2021. He was born in Edgefield on August 17, 1928. Mr. Price was preceded in death by his dear wife, Elsa. He was the son of the late Robert L. Price and Ethel Eubanks Price Mathis, and the stepson of Fred Mathis. He was also predeceased by his brother, Burrell and his wife, Lucille, and by his sister, Alice Price Brown and her husband, Wayne.

Mr. Price retired from the US Army in 1967, moved his family to Lugoff, and began his 2nd career as a Master Electrician. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an excellent teacher, who taught his son, son-in-law, grandsons, and nephews electrical and mechanical skills. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, handyman projects, and spending time with his family. He taught and encouraged everyone in his family to garden, and he and Elsa shared the bounty of their gardens with everyone.

Surviving are his children: daughter, Eva M. Price and her husband, Jeffery L. Jackson, of Taylors, SC; son, Robert L. Price (Laurie) of Killeen, TX; grandchildren: Deneen Kinney of Winder, GA, Walter “Skip” Price (Kami) of Lugoff, SC, Angela Boudart (Tim) of Colora, MD, Johanna Gover (Brett) of Arlington, TX, Johnny Price (Nina) of Germany, and Mattea Price of Killeen, TX; and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
