Marian Wallace Massalou

May 06, 1927 – September 20, 2021

Marian Wallace Massalou, 94 of Columbia, entered into rest on September 20, 2021 at Prisma Health, Park Ridge Hospital. Born on May 6, 1927, in Lugoff, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence E. and AnnaBell Watts Wallace, and widow of the late Rene A. Massalou. She retired
from Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she worked as an investigation clerk.


She is survived by her children, Jackie Bartone (Joe) of Mt. Pleasant, Annette Massalou of Hopkins, and AnnaBell Barnhart (Butch) of Irmo; nine grandchildren Tom Chason (Harmony) and Suzannah Truesdell, Darrell McCormick, Molly McCormick (Marshal), Jody Young (Joey), Coy McCormick, James “Jimbo” Massalou (Dawn), Clay Barnhart (Mason), Crystal Strickland (Lisa), AnnaBell Buchanan (Drew); 17 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Massalou was preceded in death by her sisters Anna Belle Wallace, Louise LaSchuma, Mary Page and brothers Buck and John Wallace.


A graveside service will be held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery on September 26, 2021, at 1:00. Reverend Ken Busbee will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society,107 Westpark Blvd., Suite150, Columbia, SC 29210.


The family would like to thank the ER staff, doctors and nurses on the 4th floor of Prisma Heal Health, Park Ridge Hospital for their compassion and care they provided for Mrs Massalou and her family. Also the staff at Harbor Chase Assisted Living for their care for Mrs. Massalou
during her stay there.
