Obituary of Betty Kirkley
LUGOFF – A private graveside service for Betty Ray Kirkley, 84, will be held in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Watts will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Mrs. Kirkley passed away at KershawHealth on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Mendell Ray Sr. and Rebecca Parker Ray. She was a graduate of Camden High School where she played basketball, was a cheerleader and 1956 Miss Camden. Mrs. Kirkley retired from Camden Jewelers and was a member of Lugoff Faith Church of The Nazarene. She enjoyed working with flowers, cooking, camping and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Hugh Kirkley; sons, Scott Kirkley (Tammy) of Lugoff and Rip Kirkley (Cindy) of Elgin; daughter, Dawn Kirkley Barnes of Lugoff; grandchildren, Shane Kirkley (Annah), Meagan Kirkley, R.J. Kirkley (Nicole), Kyle Kirkley, and T.J. Barnes; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brothers, Mendell Ray Jr. and Grady Ray; and sister, Virginia Ray Brighter.
On November 11, 2021, Betty Ray Kirkley, was listed as the ceased wife in the obituary of Hugh Kirkley.
