“God’s way may twist and turn, our hearts may throb and ache, but in our souls’ we are glad to know, God makes no mistakes.”

Brenda Cooke Williams was born on March 9, 1954 in Camden, South Carolina to the marital union of the Late George Cooke and Louise Smith. She attended Kershaw County Schools and matriculated and graduated from Midlands Technical College in 1974.

Brenda was reared in a Christian home. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She became an extremely active member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church. With the merger of Trinity and Macedonia, she continued to give her unselfish support to the Camden First United Methodist Church. She served faithfully as Chairperson of SPPRC, Administrative Council, and found great joy from singing in the choir to lifting the spirts of others with kind words.

Brenda was a devoted employee to Kershaw County Schools in many capacities. She spent many devoted years as the Administrative Assistant of Camden Middle School under the Leadership of Principal, Mary Clark, former Mayor of Camden, South Carolina. Under her leadership they developed a close relationship which aided in her advancement to her District position. She ended her tenure as Administrative Assistant of Food Services for the Kershaw County School District Office for over 20 plus years.

In the Mid 2000’s, Brenda health started a turn. She was diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome. As she walked her medical journey, she never grew weary and knew who had the final answer. Brenda had the faith of a mustard seed, no matter what obstacle came upon her she knew God was able to fix it. In 2017, Brenda was faced with yet another obstacle of being diagnosed with Breast Cancer, after 1 year of treatment she WON the fight and rang that bell. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor!! She continued to be a joy and inspiration to others by finding ways to engage with others thru the usage of phone conversations, Church attendance when able, family, and forms Social Media, especially Facebook.

God knew she was needed for her appointed time. In that time God shared his grace and glory through her existence and once again keep us in awe over the goodness of God. “Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand. I am tired, I am weak, and I am worn,” we can only imagine she sung in her heart as she bid us farewell. God in his infinite beauty and wisdom, took her hand in the early morning hours of January 1, 2021.
