LUGOFF-Jan Thomas McMullen, husband of Marilyn K. McMullen of 51 years, passed away on October 15, 2020, and will be laid to rest at Springvale Baptist Church Cemetery. He was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1942. His parents James B. McMullen and Elizabeth M. (Gillette) McMullen, sister Elizabeth Diane McMullen and brother James B. McMullen have all preceded him in death. In April 2008, Jan retired from Pepsi-Cola after 23 years AND 3 DAYS.

After moving to South Carolina in 2008, Jan and Marilyn began attending Springvale Baptist Church. They became members in 2011 and Jan was appointed a Deacon in 2018. He enjoyed spending time singing in the church choir, helping prepare meals for Wednesday night fellowship supper, doing odd jobs around the church, yard work, climbing ladders, and scaling roofs (much to the disapproval of his wife), traveling, and doing things with and for his family. He dearly loved and was very proud of his children and adored being Papa to 7 beautiful grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn McMullen, their children, Brenda S. Miller and her sons, Kyle Miller and Ryan Miller of Columbia, South Carolina. Deborah L. McAfoose, husband Steven McAfoose, and their children, Kayte McAfoose and Cody McAfoose of Houston, Texas. Thomas J. McMullen, wife Nicole McMullen, and their daughters, Elizabeth McMullen and Annagrace McMullen of Katy, Texas. Michael L. McMullen, wife Kristen McMullen, and their son Alden McMullen of Charleston, S.C.

A funeral service will be held Monday, October 19, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Springvale Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jim Osteen and the Rev. Todd Horton will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3-4 p.m. at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Springvale Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are fellow Deacons, his sons, Thomas McMullen and Michael McMullen, and his son-in-law, Steve McAfoose.
