Robert McClendon

August 29, 1941 ~ June 7, 2020 (age 78)

It is with profound sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Robert McClendon.  Mr. McClendon entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at KershawHealth.

Born in Camden, South Carolina on August 29, 1941, he was the son of the late William McClendon and the late Sallie Mae Howard McClendon. Robert was educated in the public school system in Kershaw County. He accepted Christ and joined St. Mark Church of God In Christ. Robert served on the Deacon Board and the St. Mark Male Choir. Robert enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music.  Robert enjoyed attending Sunday School, and he was faithful in helping out whenever needed.

Robert was employed with Fluor Daniel Construction as a Supervisor, he retired after 28 years of service. Robert traveled a lot with Fluor Daniel Construction, however he didn’t mind because he enjoyed his job. Robert took great pleasure in watching television; he loved watching all sports. He cherished his grandchildren; they were his pride and joy. He took great joy in spending with them, and he always enjoyed when they visited.

Preceding him in death is his son Robert McClendon, Jr., two brothers: William McClendon and Howard McClendon.

Robert B. McClendon leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 49 years: Blanche McClendon of Camden, SC; his daughter: Mrs. Michelle Collins ( Todd) of Columbia, SC; two sisters: Mrs. Rena McCord of Camden, SC and Mrs. Rosetta Curry (Michael) of Cerritos, California; one daughter-in- law: Kimberly McClendon of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren: Preston McClendon, Todd Collins, Jr., and Leah Collins; One God Son: John Bennett of Lugoff, SC; one God-Daughter: Marshay Matthews of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Cedars Cemetary.  Public viewing will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.  Due to COVID-19 precautions, only 5 individuals will be allowed in the funeral home at a time.  All social distancing practices will be in effect at the service.  You may view the Graveside service via Facebook Live by clicking the link below or by visiting the Brown’s Funeral Home page.
