Virginia was born July 28, 1925 in Rembert, South Carolina to Heyward Calvin Chandler and Rosa Mae McLeod Chandler.

Rosa Virginia Chandler Smith left her earthly home to go to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 94. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on Sunday, May 17, 2020.

Virginia lived her life putting others first and herself last. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Joseph Murray Smith, for 75 years.

She was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in Dalzell, SC. After graduating, she began attending McLeod Infirmary Hospital School of Nursing in Florence, SC until she met and married the love of her life – Murray. Together they were blessed with nine children, Donna Smyrl (Jimmy) Phyllis Speaks (Joe), Jean Davis (Rusty), Betty Potter (Steve), Martha Schreiber, Janette McCaa (Clint), Joseph Smith (Martha), Johnny Smith (Sharon), Jimmy Smith (Amanda), and 87 grands.

Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, cooking, and reading.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her father and mother, one sister, Evelyn C. Martin, two brothers, Heyward Chandler and David Chandler, one grandson, Roger Davis, and one granddaughter-in-law, Sandra Smyrl.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Camden, SC.

A private funeral will be held on Saturday, May 23 2020.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
