Eric George Marcus was born in Charleston, S.C. on October 12, 1957, the son of Henry Marcus and Marguerite Marcus, who relocated to Columbia a few years later.

Eric George Marcus, 62, of 230 Bishopgate Road, Columbia, S.C., passed away Monday, May 4, 2020, finally succumbing to the cancer that has plagued him the last several years.

Mr. Marcus is a 1975 graduate of Cardinal Newman High School and continued his education at the University of South Carolina, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in humanities and social sciences in December 1980. He then spent thirty-one years as an employee of the State of South Carolina, first at the Department of Corrections and then the Criminal Justice Academy, retiring in April of 2014.

Mr. Marcus is survived by his wife, Glynda Middleton Marcus; three sons, David Alexander Marcus, Brian Edward Marcus and Glynn Alexander Marcus, all of whom reside in Columbia.
