
Bishop Jerry Henry was born in Baltimore Maryland, on October 27, 1950, to the late Joe Henry Jr. and Grace Scarborough Henry. Bishop took his exit from this earthly realm on May 2, 2020, at 6:45 am. He took an early flight.
Bishop Jerry Henry began his primary education in the intercity of Baltimore Maryland and some public schooling in the public schools of Kershaw County. He graduated from Forest Park High School, in 1968 in Baltimore Maryland. Not long after graduation, he migrated south and met his bride Mary Louester Hough. They were joined in holy matrimony on March 4, 1972. Forty–Eight years ago!
In the year of 1976, Bishop Jerry Henry joined the United States Army. He had a multitude of achievements in which he would not have wanted to be listed. He was very modest. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1980. In 1980 he returned to EI Dupont in Lugoff SC, which he was employed there for the next 27 years.
From 1980 to 1985 Bishop Jerry Henry served the Lord Diligently at Catoe Chapel Church of God In Christ, under the toot ledge of his father-in-law, Deacon Leroy Hough and Deacon Charles Cooper. Bishop loved the youth, some remember him as youth Sunday School teacher and member of the finance committee.
In 1985, Bishop Jerry Henry was lead by the spirit to become apart of Believer’s Temple Holiness Church in Cassatt, SC. This is where he accepted his call into the Gospel Ministry. In August of 1986, Minister Henry became an Ordained Elder.
In June of 1988, Elder Jerry Henry was promoted to the office of Presiding Elder. He served in this position until June of 1999, when he was promoted to the office of Bishop.
In August of 2012, Bishop Jerry Henry became the Pastor of The Believer’s Temple’s Holiness Church in Cassatt, SC.
As Pastor, his primary goal and his secondary goal and all other goals are combined in this. Complying with Directional Guidance from the Holy Ghost! Feeding the sheep of Jesus and living a life that pleases God.
Bishop Henry past employments were with Springs Mills, E.I. Dupont & Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina.
Educationally, he has taken numerous academic, religious, and personal developmental courses. He has attended the Believer’s Temple School of Theology, ATEC of Kershaw County, Midlands Technical College of Columbia, Limestone College, Blue Cross Blue Shield Leadership Academy, Rutledge College, and The David A.A. Mungo Theological Seminary.
Bishop Jerry Henry was preceded in death by his son Jason L.Henry; his parents, Joe & Grace Henry; two brothers, Robert Henry, Ronald Henry and Garrick Henry and one sister, Joe Ann Henry Kelly.
Bishop leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mary Louester Henry of Bethune, SC; two sons, Jerry Dewayne (Earlene) Henry of Bethune, SC and Gerald (Tammy) Henry of Gadsden SC; one sister, Blanche Henry Dyers (John) of Federal Way, WA; five grandchildren; Kristin, Ny’asia, KaLynn, Jessica, and Josiah and a host of nieces, nephews, pother relatives and friends.
Visitation was held May 5, 2020, 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Nelson-Haile Funeral Home.
Nelson-Haile Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
