Deacon Robert Wilson Jett, the son of James Jett and Sallie K. Hough Jett, was born on March 23, 1941.
He entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Prisma Health Hospital in Columbia, SC.
Robert was educated in Kershaw County Public Schools beginning at Carver Elementary School. He worked in the textile industry for many years. He was also employed by Springs Industries in Kershaw, SC.
Robert truly loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved to travel, watch his favorite television shows and spending time with his family. He sang with the Spiritual Wonders and the Catoe Chapel Men’s Choir. Robert was a warrior and he fought the good fight until the very end. He will be missed greatly and forever cherished by those who loved him.
Robert was preceded in death by his son Robert Jett Jr; four brothers, Aaron Jett, Ben Tillman Jett, Lewis Lee Jett, Marvin Jett and a sister, Annie L. Jett.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted wife, Willie Bell Jett of Bethune, SC; two sons, Terry L. Jett of Bethune, SC, Kenneth O. Jett (Vanessa) of Charlotte, NC; four daughters, Shirley Murphy, Barbara Lane, both of Camden, SC, Cammie Jett of Lugoff, SC and Patty Brazell of Columbia, SC; a special daughter, Sharon Washington (Thomas) of Lugoff, SC; three brothers Thomas (Mable) Jett of Bethune, SC, Jerry Clark of Bishopville, SC and William (Elizabeth) Gooden of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Willie Mae (Robert) Hairston of Brooklyn, NY and Martha (Eddie) Shannon of Cassatt, SC; four sisters-in-law, Martha Jett and Teresa Jett, both of Bethune, SC, Mary Sloss of Palm Beach, FL and Susie Mae Johnson of Portsmith, OH; one brother-in-law, James Caldwell of Camden, SC; twenty-six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held April 24, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Nelson-Haile Funeral Home. Graveside services were held April 25, 2020 at 2:00 PM
