Here’s when and where SC school districts are handing out food to kids during closures

Here’s where parents can get food for their children for local school districts.

Lexington 1

On Friday, April 3, all children 18 and younger will be able to receive “grab and go” bags from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. containing breakfast and lunch for Friday, Monday and Tuesday at seven locations.

Starting Wednesday, April 8, the district will go on spring break, and meals will not be served during that time. Starting Tuesday, April 14, lunch and breakfast will be provided, and on Wednesday, April 15, the service will switch to twice a week — on Monday, breakfast and lunch will be distributed for Monday and Tuesday, and on Wednesday, meals will be disributed for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The district will also distribute food via bus from roughly 10:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For a full list of drop-off sites and times, click here. The pick-up locations are:

Lexington 2

On Tuesday and Wednesday, March 17-18, all elementary schools in the district will provide bags with lunch and the next day’s breakfast to children 18 and younger from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The full list of elementary schools can be found here.

Starting March 19, the same service — bagged lunch and next’s day breakfast — will be provided at four locations every weekday. The pick-up times will remain 11 a.m.-1 p.m. In addition, Turner AME Church will provide lunch and a snack from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Children must be present to receive the food.

Lexington 3

In order to promote social distancing, a bus will deliver food only on Mondays, with all children under 18 receiving seven lunches and seven breakfasts on that day, at three locations. Only one family at a time may approach the bus, and children must be present. During the scheduled spring break of April 6-10, meals will still be distributed.

— 11 to 11:30 am – Mr. B’s Convenience Store near Leesville Gardens, 402 East Columbia Avenue, Leesville, SC 29070

— 11:45 am to 12:15 pm – Empty parking lot behind McDonald’s, 212 West Columbia Avenue, Batesburg, SC 29006

— 12:30 to 1:15 pm – Old Hardee’s Parking Lot, 502 West Columbia Avenue, Batesburg, SC 29006

In addition, families may drive to Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School at 403 South Lee Street Leesville, SC 29070, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to pick up food through the bus loop — children must still be present, and families are asked not to leave their car.

Lexington 4

Meal kits containing breakfast and lunch will be delivered along bus routes, starting at 10 a.m., along with assignment packages for students grades 1 through 12. In addition to the buses, breakfast can be picked up from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m at the front office of three locations. Meals cannot be eaten on site.

Starting March 23, the district will offer meal services only on Mondays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. During that time, children 18 and younger will receive five days’ worth of breakfasts and lunches from any of six locations:

Richland 1

Starting Thursday, “grab and go” breakfast and lunch meals will be provided to all children 18 or younger Monday through Friday at seven schools with pick-up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A child does not have to attend a Richland 1 school to receive food. In addition, starting at 11 a.m., buses will distribute breakfast and lunches at 21 locations throughout the district. For a full list of those locations and drop-off times, click here. “Grab and go” breakfasts and lunches will be available to all children under 18 at all schools in the district, with breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Newberry County

Starting Wednesday, all children from 1 to 18 years old can receive lunch and next day’s breakfast from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The meals will be distributed in a drive-up service at five locations.

Calhoun County

All students will receive both breakfast and lunch, either by picking it up at their school’s cafeteria starting at 9 a.m. or waiting along their usual bus routes — buses will start their routes at 9 a.m. and deliver food to students waiting at each stop.

Saluda County

All children 18 years old or younger can get a meal kit with lunch and the next day’s breakfast at any school in the district from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The child must be present for the meal to be picked up, and each school will distribute its own directions on pick-up.

Sumter County

Through Friday, March 20, breakfast and lunch will be distributed at every school, with breakfast lasting from 7 to 9 a.m. and lunch going from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, buses will distribute meals at various locations in the community at 10 a.m. — for a full list of those locations, click here.

Children must be present for the food to be distributed, and no food can be eaten on site.

Aiken County

Beginning Tuesday, buses containing “grab and go” bags for breakfast and lunch for all students will begin transporting the food along their usual routes, starting at 11 a.m. and ending around 12:30 p.m.

“Grab and go” bags will also be available at all Aiken County School District campuses from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the exception of Aiken Scholars Academy.

The service will run Monday through Friday, with the exception of Monday, March 23, which was previously scheduled as a day off before the school closures.

Kershaw County

All children 18 and younger can receive breakfast and lunch on a “grab and go” basis at four locations, with breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The food will be distributed through the bus rider line.

In addition, starting Wednesday the district will distribute meals using buses as well — buses will have pick-up bags with both lunch and next day’s breakfast by 9:30 a.m. and then distribute them to any student along their usual routes.

Orangeburg County

Through Friday, bagged lunches, along with next day’s breakfast, will be served at all school locations to all students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buses will also deliver meals during the same time frame and along their usual routes. Meal service for the week of March 23-27 will be decided by Friday, March 20 and will be communicated to all.

Chester County

“Grab and go” breakfast and lunch will be available at 11 locations, with breakfast being served from 7 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All children 18 years and younger can receive meals, and they must be present to receive the meals. No meals can be eaten on site.

All students can pick up meals and learning packets at York Comprehensive High School, 275 Alexander Love Hwy, York, SC 29745, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. Parents are asked to have a piece of paper with student names, grades, and schools to hand to district staff.

Alternatively, buses will deliver meals and packets to bus riders — children from kindergarten to sixth grade will have deliveries between 8:15 and 11 a.m., while seventh through 12th graders will have them delivered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If a child is not a bus rider but needs to have food delivered, parents should call 803-818-6010 or email at

Clover School District (York 2)

Meals for all students can be picked up in a drive-through format from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clover High School, 1625 State Hwy 55 E, Clover, SC 29710. Each meal kit will include lunch and next day’s breakfast and can be picked up by parents or student drivers.

All children 18 and younger can receive breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at five locations, Monday through Friday. Parents or guardians must have the child with them to pick up the meals

Emergency meals to families in need will be provided on the following dates, with enough food to cover five breakfasts and five lunches per week. The meals will be delivered by bus via five routes, lasting roughly from 10:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Cherokee County

Breakfast and lunch will be available to any child in Cherokee County, served at any school in the county from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meals will be bagged with both breakfast and lunch, and they must either be picked up or taken in a drive-through format — no eating on site.

Horry County

All students 18 years old and younger can receive “grab and go” meal kits from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Monday to Thursday at any of 11 locations. Meals will be distributed in a drive-through format, and children must be present in the car for the food to be given. From Monday to Wednesday, each bag will contain breakfast and lunch. On Thursday, each bag will contain lunch for the day, as well as breakfast and lunch for Friday.

Monday through Friday while schools are closed, all children 18 and younger can receive breakfast and lunch via curbside pick-up at 12 locations. Breakfast distribution at these locations will take place from 7:15 to 8:45 a.m., while lunch distribution will last from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., and children must be present in the vehicle to receive the meals. In addition, buses will deliver meals along special routes, stopping for 20 minutes at various locations — breakfast drop-off spots can be found here, lunch drop-off spots can be found here.

Starting Monday, all children in Berkeley County will be provided with a hot lunch and snack on a “grab and go,” drive-through basis at 12 locations. The service will run from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at all sites — no students can enter the building or eat on site.
