It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Mrs. Dorothy T. “Red” Davis of 1924 Niagara Drive, Camden. Mrs. Davis entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at KershawHealth.

God saw the road was getting weary, so He did What He thought was best.  God came and stood beside me and whispered, “Come and rest.”

On Monday, March 17, 2020, Dorothy, affectionately known as “Red” or “Dot”, Davis went home to rest.  Dorothy was born on June 7, 1940 in Camden, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Alfred Thompson and the late Mrs. Sallie Cornish Thompson.  She was joined in marriage to Ralph Talton Davis of Camden, South Carolina.  From this union, they were blessed with five children: Frederick, Tammy, Richard, Gregory, and Ralph II.  Tammy preceded her in death, as well as, three brothers and two sisters: Herman and Clarence Cornish, Walter Thompson, Alma Mitchell, and Sallie Lee Cornish.

Dorothy attended the public schools of Kershaw County and was a graduate of Jackson High School in Camden, South Carolina. She was employed by Kershaw County Hospital, Fort Jackson Food Service, and retired from the Kershaw County School District in 2000.

Dorothy was a lifelong faithful member of Camden First United Methodist Church until her health began to fail.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Mr. Ralph T. Davis of Camden, South Carolina; four sons: Mr. Frederick (Michelle) Davis of Youngsville, North Carolina, Mr. Richard (Nadine) Davis of Camden, South Carolina, Gregory Young of Dallas, Texas, and Ralph Davis, II of Columbia, South Carolina; two sisters: Betty Young of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Alfa Tisdale (Samuel) of Blythewood, South Carolina; one brother: Richard (Ruby) Thompson of Camden, South Carolina; along with 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Camden First United Methodist Church and will be limited to 150 attendees (Including immediate family.).  The body will be placed in the church for viewing one hour prior to the service.  Public viewing will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Family and friends may call or visit at the residence.
