It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Clayton Spencer of 6460 Heirs Drive, Rembert.  Mr. Spencer entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at his residence.

Clayton “Toby” Spencer, the son of the late Edna Mae Spencer Jasper and the late “Big Boy” Campbell, was born on June 16, 1958.  He was reared in the home of the late Willie Jasper.

He attended Sumter County Schools and later joined the Army where he served in the Airborne Unit.

He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a faithful member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Rembert where he sang in the choir until his health failed.

He enjoyed going to church and serving the Lord.  His favorite scripture was Psalm 23.  He prayed three times a day and studied the Holy Bible.

Clayton was employed at M & M Carpet.

Clayton’s fond memories will be cherished by four brothers: Christopher (Willie Mae) Jasper of Rembert, SC, Willie (Lorine) Jasper, Jr. of Sumter, SC, Melvin Jasper and Waddell Jasper of Rembert, SC; one sister: Patricia (Alphonso) Young of Sumter, SC; a Special Friend: Jennifer Robinson of Rembert, SC; stepchildren: Schlonda Grant and Trenton Womack; three step-grandchildren; one aunt: Bertha Spencer; one uncle: Francis Campbell; a special cousin: Thomas Spencer; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Barbara Jean; a brother: Stephen; a niece: Betty; and a nephew: Alphonso.

Funeral services will be private.
