June M. Ogburn died on March 15, 2020 in Camden, SC at 91 years of age. She was born Barbara June Maddox on June 30, 1928 on a farm near Blaney (now Elgin) SC.

Her family relocated to Camden when she was 12 years old. She graduated from Camden High School in 1944 and worked as a bookkeeper for local businesses. Her favorite job was as an operator for the local telephone company.

In 1948 she married Fred M. Ogburn Jr. They made their home in Camden. She became a homemaker when her two children were born in the 1950s, but later served as bookkeeper for her husband’s pharmacy in Camden.

After moving to Camden, June was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for 48 years in the church’s nursery, often as coordinator or director. She loved children and enjoyed homemaking, cooking and baking, sewing, reading, and yard work.

She relocated to Morningside Assisted Living in 2016 and to Karesh Long Term Care in 2018. She was well cared for by Morningside and Karesh staff and by KershawHealth Hospice.

She is survived by daughter Barbara O. Clarke of Lexington; son Fred M. Ogburn III (Peggy) of Camden; four grandchildren: Brantley W. Clarke of Lexington; Lee M. Ogburn (Jennifer) of Ponchatoula, LA; Katrina DeLoach (Tommy) of Lugoff, SC; Sharlene DeLoach (Lenny) of Claxton, GA; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Sarah Brasington and sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Fred M. Ogburn Jr.; parents B.I. and Ola Maddox; two brothers and two sisters.

A private interment will be held with a Memorial Service to be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be made to KershawHealth Hospice or First Baptist Church of Camden.
