Obituary of Roddy Gray Turner, Jr.

LUGOFF – A celebration of life service for Roddy Gray Turner, Jr., 62, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gray passed away Friday, January 3, 2020. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Roddy Gray Turner, and Carolyn Sue Layton Turner. He graduated from the University of S.C. and worked for the S.C. Department of Corrections. Gray enjoyed spending quality time with his devoted wife. He loved traveling and meeting new people. Gray was an avid Carolina Gamecock fan and watching them play was his favorite relaxing thing to do on a Saturday.

Surviving are his wife, April Nicole Rainey Turner; children, Ashlen Turner, Aaron Turner, John Rainey, Tigeress Rainey; a sister, Susan Gail Turner; nieces, Lindsey Denton Hucks (Richard), Layton Turner, Grayson Turner and Avril Johnson; and a nephew, Christopher Johnson. He was predeceased by a sister, Julia Elizabeth Turner Simpson.
