Carl Benson Smith, Sr., was born in December 9, 1953, the son of John Archie Smith and Ronnie Elizabeth Caulk.

CASSATT – Funeral service for Carl Benson Smith, Sr., 65, will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

Mr. Smith passed away at home on Sunday, December 9, 2018.  Born in 1953, in Laurinburg, N.C., he was the son of the late John Smith and Peggy Caulk Caulder.  He served in the United States Navy and retired as a carpenter.  He enjoyed auctions, metal detecting and mechanic work.

Surviving are his wife, Harriett Yovonne McCaskill Smith; sons, Carl B. Smith Jr. (Jennifer) of Cassatt and Johnathan Eric Smith (Raya Nixon) of Cassatt; grandchildren, Carl III, Judas, Kenny, Abby, Riley, Belle, Lizzy and Bailey; and sisters, Becky West and Sharon Martin; brother, Mike Smith. 

He was predeceased by brothers, Tony Caulder and Ronnie Smith.
