COLUMBIA – Mrs. Nora Burns White was born January 24, 1928, in Blaney (Elgin), South Carolina to the late Charlie and Mamie Burns. She passed away on October 22, 2017.

She was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County, and, in her teenage years moved to New York where she would find better opportunities. She worked as a child care provider and did domestic work for many years until her retirement. She then moved back to South Carolina where she reunited with her five sisters. Nora was an active member of First Greenview Baptist Church, until her health declined.

She is survived by four nieces: Thomasina Davis, Elvena Parks, Eleanora Edmonds, and Barbara Crum; six nephews: Alred (Maebelle) Kelly, Jr., Bobby Coleman, Melvin Kelly, Norman (Kelly) Moore, Ronald (Cynthia) Moore, and Donald Moore; a sister in law, Nancy White; and other relatives and friends. She predeceased by her husband, Booker T. White, and son, John “Timmy” White.

The homegoing service will be held Saturday, October 28th, 11 am at Greenview First Baptist Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences and flowers may be sent by visiting
