Karen McCoy Bowers was born on May 5, 1959 in Camden, SC, the daughter of Perry L. McCoy and Betty Shaylor McCoy.

Karen McCoy Bowers, 57, of Camden, SC, wife of Lynn Bowers, died Thursday, December 15, 2016.

She was a graduate of Winthrop College and for 35 years was the office manager with McCoy Moving as well as Myers Timber Company, and also sold real estate. Karen was a member of First Baptist Church and was GA leader at the church for a number of years. She was president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 17 and past president of the Junior Welfare League.

Besides her parents, Karen was survived by her step-daughter, Ashley B. Jones (Brad) of Charleston; step-son, Justin Bowers (Suzanne) of Bluffton; brother, Terry J. McCoy (Kathy) of North Myrtle Beach; special niece, Kayla Brown (Michael) of Camden; nephews, Shane McCoy (Bethany) of Villa Rica, GA and Philip McCoy of North Myrtle Beach; and step-nephews, Derrick and Stephen Dobbs.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

A funeral service was held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 18, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Rev. Bruce Hancock officiated. Burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family received friends from 6:00-7:30 PM, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life of Kershaw County, c/o Gail Kirkland, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.
