Stan remembered everyone he ever met – almost all fondly. Sports, music, TV shows, history, politics – he had a remarkable memory for what defined our times. Stan was a schmoozer, starting as a kid working in his parent’s store, Margo’s, on Main St., then Lourie’s, Carmax, and other retailers. He turned his love of memorabilia: comics, toys, and other valuable stuff into a business, in Atlanta’s Underground and Charlotte’s Metroliner. He was a timekeeper for women’s roller derby and a casino night dealer at times. He could make you laugh harder than anyone else you know. Bruce Springsteen and Peter Max met him several times; were impressed. He loved his soulmate, Bonnie and his son, Jamie. He was always grateful for his friends, who won’t have nearly as much to smile about now.

Stan was buried a day after his death, December 12, 2016, by Jewish law. If you’d like to honor him, you can make a contribution to Chabad of SC, 2509 Decker Blvd, Columbia, SC 29206, in care of Rabbi Hesh Epstein, an amazing comforter, who was also an appreciative fan.

A celebration of Stan’s life was held from 5 until 7 o’clcok, Tuesday, December 13, 2712 Wheat St., Columbia.
