Dennis Cantey Foster was born October 5, 1946, in Columbia, she was the daughter of Dr. William Childs Cantey and Blanche Dennis Cantey.

Dennis Cantey Foster, formerly of San Francisco, CA., died Thursday, December 8, 2016, after an extended illness.

Dennis was a graduate of Dreher High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Converse College in Spartanburg.Dennis married Thorne Scott Foster of San Francisco on March 2, 1974. In California, they launched and built a successful executive search firm known as Foster and Associates. She was a member of the Metropolitan Club of San Francisco and was an active member of the Junior League of San Francisco. Dennis, along with her husband, Thorne, enjoyed all the outdoor sports that the western United States offered – skiing, fly fishing throughout the West, duck hunting, boating, golf and travel – introducing good friends and family to their varied interests along the way. They retired to Bend, Oregon where she and Thorne continued to enjoy outdoor activities.

Mrs. Foster was predeceased by her parents and her husband.

She was survived by her brother, William C. Cantey, Jr. (Betty) of Columbia; two nephews, William C. Cantey III (Nikki) and Hugh Campbell Cantey (Kat), both of Columbia; and one niece, Elizabeth Cantey Keating (Steve) of Boise, Idaho; also, seven great-nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by stepsons, Scott, Rhett, and Dirk Foster.
A memorial service was held 2 o’clock, Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Keenan Chapel of Trinity Cathedral. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel,  assisted the family.
