Billy Lee “Cornbread” Jackson

Billy Lee Jackson was born on November 11, 1937 in Lugoff, he was the son of the late James Lee and Ruth Alice Anderson Jackson.

Billy Lee Jackson, 79, of Lugoff, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016.

Billy started Billy Jackson Construction in 1968 and was still active in the daily operations. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed bird and coon hunting with his grandsons. He was known by many as “Cornbread”. 

Billy was an active member of Springvale Baptist Church where he was a past chairman of the deacons and member of the choir. Also, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #411 and Jamil Shrine. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving were his wife of 55 years, Nancy Hall Jackson; daughter, Rhonda Jackson Hamilton; son, Bubba Jackson (Karen); brother, Charles C. Jackson (Evon); grandchildren, Whitney Luther (Michael), Wesley Jackson, Michaela Hamilton, Cole Jackson, Madison Hamilton, and M.J. Hamilton; and great-grandchildren, Fraser Luther and Sarah Kate Branham.

He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Wagner; and son-in-law, Mike Hamilton.

Funeral service were held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Springvale Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Todd Horton officiated. The family received friends Wednesday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Springvale Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 880, Lugoff, S.C. 29078.
