Robert Eugene “Bubba” Powers was born, Tuesday, October 25, 1932, in Andrews, S.C., he was the son of Rev. Richard Ellerby “R.E.” Powers and Bessie Mae Hardee Cox Powers.

Robert Eugene “Bubba” Powers, 84,  of Camden, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and retired from DuPont. He owned and operated Powers Used Cars.

Mr. Powers was a member of Kershaw Lodge 29 and the Jamil Shrine Temple. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, known to all as “Uncle Bubba” and belonged to numerous hunting clubs.

Surviving were his loving wife of 62 years, Myrlee Barnhill Powers; sons, Robert E. “Robbie” Powers, Jr. and his wife, Donnelle of Camden and Steven Wayne Powers and his wife, Amelia Wannamaker of Cartersville, Ga.; brothers, Rev. Dan Powers Sr (Bunny) of Greenville, N.C. and Rev. David W. Cox (LeeDean) of Walterboro; sister, Faye Powers Greco (Charles) of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Will Powers, LeeAnn Torres, Thom Powers, Carley Kersey, Sam Powers, Lisa Powers, Amelia B. Powers and Bess Powers; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, David Allen Powers, Richard Powers, Jackie Powers, Edward R. Cox, Robert E. Cox and Rev. J. Bernard Cox; and sisters, Margaret Powers Cameron, Miriam Cox Thomas and Cleonis Cox Benton.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Worship Center. The family received friends Friday from 11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial was held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
