Jesse Elmore Smith

Jesse Elmore Smith was born July 22, 1930 in Bishopville, SC, the son of James Clyburn Smith and Colzie Elmore Smith.

Jesse Elmore Smith, 86, of Camden, SC, died Saturday, November 19, 2016.

Jesse was a retired employee of Jaclyn Hosiery Mill and produce manager at The Camden Food Shop.

Jesse was survived by his wife, Betty Branham Smith; sons Larry Thomas Smith (Annette) of Charleston, SC, David Allen Smith (Dara) of Atlanta, GA, and Timothy Dale Smith (Julie) of Camden, SC; grandchildren, Jessica, Allie, Ann Branham, McKelvey, Cameron, Elizabeth, and Grace; great-granddaughter Caroline; and sister Nancy Stokes of Greer, SC.

Besides his parents, Jesse was predeceased by his brothers, James Smith, Wayne Smith, and Reverend Sim Smith.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

A funeral service was held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, Camden, SC. Burial followed in Quaker Cemetery. Reverend Bruce Hancock officiated. The family received friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jesse’s memory to the A. Sam Karesh Wing of KershawHealth, 1102 Roberts Street, Camden, SC 29020.
