Mendel Eugene Cassady was born on December 7, 1941 in Bethune, he was a son of the late David and Leila Hinson Cassady.

Mendel Eugene Cassady, 74, of Lugoff, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.

He served in the United Sates Navy and was a construction superintendent. He was a member of New Life Christian Outreach Ministry and the American Legion Post 172. Mr. Cassady was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed fishing and carpentry.

Surviving were his wife, Audrey Robinson Cassady; children, Connie Cassady of Conway, Cathi Campbell (Billy) of Blackstock, S.C., and Gena Long (Jim) of Lugoff; sister, Patricia Cassady of Lugoff; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy Cassady, Lawson Cassady and Richard Cassady; and sisters, Betty Ann Gardner and Carol Sue Bennett.

Funeral service were held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Outreach Ministry with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Derrick Proctor officiated. The family received friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Life Christian Outreach Ministry, 411 US 601, Lugoff, SC 29078.
