Marie Ammons Hicks was born July 20, 1919 in Bishopville, SC, a daughter of the late Sumpter A. Ammons and Eva Brown Ammons.

Marie Ammons Hicks, 97, of Camden, SC, widow of Joseph Otto Hicks, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Marie was survived by her son, Kenneth O. Hicks of Camden; sister, Mattie Sue Lynch of Camden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 am. Friday, November 4, 2016, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Gene Stokes officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, PO Box 798, Camden, SC 29020.
