Darlene Porter Dean WINNSBORO –

Darlene Louise Porter Dean of Winnsboro, SC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving friends and family, on October 25, 2016. She was born in Winnsboro, January 9, 1943, to the late Jameson Odell Porter and Thelma Louise Carnell Porter. She married the late Robert Fredrick Dean on December 16, 1964. After graduating from Winnsboro High in 1961, Darlene decided to pursue her higher education at Palmer College. She graduated in 1963 with an associate’s degree in accounting. Darlene worked as a secretary for Fairfield County Schools for several years prior to her retirement in 2008. She was also bookkeeper to Stephen Greene Baptist Church from 1993 until present. Mrs. Dean is survived by her two sons, Robert Fredrick Dean Jr. (Kimberly) of Elgin, SC, and Michael Wayne Dean (Kathy) of Winnsboro, SC; five grandchildren, Mason Dean, Chandler Dean and Addison Dean of Elgin, and Hunter and Ethan Dean of Winnsboro. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Alan Dean, whom she considered a brother; her canine companion, Khloe, and a host of other family and friends she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, loving husband, and her grandson, Brandon Dean. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016, at Stephen Greene Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Mickey Cockrell. The family will receive friends after the service in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stephen Greene Baptist Church Youth Fund, 500 Seventh Street, Winnsboro SC 29180.
