Joy Dent CAMDEN –

Melinda Joyce “Joy” Dent, 72, of Camden, S.C., passed from this life on Thursday, October 13, 2016, after complication following cancer surgery. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Joy worked in many capacities; by far her favorite was as a nurse caring for others. She was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 17 Ladies’ Auxiliary, holding many offices including state auxiliary president.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Kimberly; son, Mike; and parents, Jack and Mary David.

Joy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Willis J. Dent; son, David (Paige); sisters, Martha Penrod (Brent) and Mary Jimas (Jim); brother, Robert David (Phyllis); and the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Ashley, Breanna, Christopher, Kinsley, Laurel Grace and Blake.

Funeral service for Joy will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Camden Ward, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn memorial Park.
