JAMES MORRIS OBITUARY
Rev. James Michael “Mike” Morris CAMDEN – The Rev. James Michael “Mike” Morris, 70, of Camden, SC, died in KershawHealth Medical Center on September 10, 2016.
Mike was born in Tyler, TX, to the late Col. Charles Aubrey Morris and Margaret Lloyd Morris. He served in Vietnam as a U.S. Army medic. Following his military service, he worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst. Mike earned his Master of Divinity degree from The Divinity School at Duke University and was ordained a minister in the United Methodist Church. He served churches in the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church until he and his wife Jackie retired to Camden.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Jennings Morris. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Collier of Helotes, TX, and Natalie Morris of Tampa, FL, his stepson, Chris Galvin and wife, Christina, of Pelion, SC, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 11:00 at Lyttleton Street UMC in Camden, SC. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations to be made in Mike’s memory to Lyttleton Street UMC, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.
