A funeral service to honor the life of Ray Thomas Barrett, 82, of Elgin, SC, will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 3:00PM in the Hillcrest Baptist Church. The Reverend Ken Jackson and Reverend John Corder will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, May 6, 2016 from 6-7:30 PM in the Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, Post Office Box 85, Elgin, SC 29045 or Alzheimer’s Association- Mid State- SC, 140 Stonebridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210.

Mr. Barrett, husband of Dorothy Branham Barrett, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He was born in Blaney, SC, the son of the late Chester Burns Collins and Frances Davis Collins. He was in the US Navy having served in the Korean War, a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Barrett was a long distance truck driver for over 55 years, having driven for Mount Vernon Mills / Smith & Waters for 35 of those years.

Surviving besides his wife of 58 years, his sons, Gregory Ray Barrett and Melinda of Camden, Forrest Damon Barrett “Woody” and Kristin of Lugoff; grandchildren, Amanda Clare Barrett and Alexander Ray
Barrett; a brother, Larry Burns Collins of Elgin; numerous nieces and
nephews. Mr. Barrett was predeceased by brothers, William Collins, Curtis Collins, and Ben Collins.

Kornegay Funeral Home. Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
