Martha Ruby Moak “Beady” Jeffers

Martha Ruby Moak “Beady” Jeffers, was born, March 14, 1934 in Blaney, she was a daughter of the late John Leslie Moak, Sr. and Kate Branham Moak.

1940 Census Information:

Leslie Moak (30) lived in Kershaw, South Carolina, with his wife, Kate Moak (30), and children;  Jasper Moak (10), Ruth Moak (8),  Andrew Moak (4), and Nellie Moak(2) also in the home was Tallie Goff (40) a hired hand. The family owned a farm house with a reported value of $600.00. Leslie farmed and Kate kept house. Jasper and Ruth attended school. Andrew and Nellie were too young to attend school and were kept at home.

1950

On December 23, 1950, Thomas Robert Jeffers (20) and Ruby Moak (18) were married in Kershaw County, South Carolina.

On December 10, 1951, Mrs. Thomas B. Jeffers was listed as the mother in the obituary of Donald Gene Jeffers.

1965

On September 9, 1965, Mrs. Thomas B Jeffers was listed as the living mother in the obituary of Leslie Christopher Jeffers.

1978

March 19, 1978, Mrs. Bobby Jeffers was listed as a living daughter in the obituary of John Leslie Moak, Sr.

1987

On October 21, 1987, Mrs. Bobby (Ruby) Jeffers was listed as a living daughter in the obituary of Mrs. Kate Branham Moak.

2015

Mrs. Martha Ruby Moak “Beady” Jeffers, 81 of Elgin, wife of the late Thomas Bobby Jeffers, died on Monday, August 10, 2015. Mrs. Jeffers was a member of Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves, Bingo, and butter pecan ice cream.

Funeral services for Mr. Jeffers, 81, were held Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Paul Miles and the Rev. George Cashwell officiated. The family received friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church Womens’ Ministries, 2290 Heath Pond Road, Elgin, SC 29045

Surviving were her sons, Jerry Thomas Jeffers (Sharon Jeffers), Andrew Elmore “Andy” Jeffers (Tammy Jeffers); a daughter, Hollie June Knight (James Knight); brothers, Jack Moak, Hammy Moak, Johnny Moak, Jr.; sisters, Ruth M. Brown, Nettie M. Campbell (Algie Campbell, Jr.), Belva M. Fisher (Carl Fisher), Jeanette “Curl” Anderson (Tommy Anderson), Kathy M. Brown (Harold Brown); 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sons, Donald Gene Jeffers, Ronald Kayle Jeffers, Bobby Ray Jeffers, Steven Oneal Jeffers and Leslie Christopher Jeffers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Springdale Nursing Home and especially to Thomasina Dubose for her love and care.
