Mary “Emma” Bass Boone | 1917 – 2015 | Obituary

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary “Emma” Bass Boone, 97, of Camden, will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015, at 2:00 PM at DeKalb Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Dean Reynolds and Rev. Keith Coates will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 5:00-6:30 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, and also, from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service at DeKalb Baptist Church. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Boone’s memory to Blaney Baptist Church, Ruth Sunday School Class, 1400 Blaney Road, Elgin, SC, 29045.

Mrs. Boone, widow of Lewis Lee Boone, died Tuesday, February 23, 2015. She was born in Camden, the daughter of the late Mammie Cook Bass and Ely Bass.

Emma is survived by daughters, Sarah Bigham, of Rock Hill, and Sylvia Porter, (Ben) of Elgin; son Melvin Hopkins, of NC; grandchildren, Joey Hilton, Ann LaCarter, Pam Powell, Kay Hough, Johnny Marshall, Mary Alice Matthews, Ben Marshall, Jean Catoe, Wade Marshall, and Danny Hopkins, and numerous great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughters, Betty Jean Marshall, and Sally Mae Hopkins.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel is assisting the family.
