Funeral service for William Burnett Collins, 74, of Lugoff, SC, will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Dr. Albert Allen and Rev. Dave Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 13, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel.
William, son of the late Frances Davis Collins and Chester Collins, was born November 14, 1938 in Blaney, SC. He had retired from Hardwicke Chemical Company. Mr. Collins was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a generous man, always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbors.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Norma Nelson Collins; daughter, Diane McCaskill (Mike McCaskill) and son, Steve Collins (Brenda Collins), all of Lugoff; grandchildren, Melissa Hanna (Clay Hanna), Stephanie Collins (Lance Collins), Ashley Branham (Jonathan Branham), Philip Hawkins, all of Lugoff, and Jonathan Hawkins (Shannon Hawkins) of Goldsboro, NC; great-grandchildren, Hunter Mathis, Trent Mathis, Cayden Branham and Brody Hanna. He is also survived by brother, Larry Collins, and half-brother, Ray Barrett, both of Elgin.
William was predeceased by his parents, Chester Collins and Frances Collins, and brothers, Curtis Collins and Ben Collins.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is assisting the family.
