Franklin Mark Nates was born in Columbia, SC on April 14, 1957, he was a son of the late  Talmadge G. Nates and Evelyn LeGrand Nates.

Franklin Mark Nates, 56, of Elgin, died Friday, May 17, 2013.

Mr. Nates attended Royal Pines Independent Holiness Church, and he greatly enjoyed the outdoors; especially fishing. A loving father and devoted brother, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Elders (Chuck), Melony Williams (Jason); grandsons, Dalton Elders, and Robert Cotton; granddaughters, Rebecca and Shelby Cotton; brothers, Bud Nates, Tracy Nates (Carol), Paul Nates (Angie); sisters, Hope Elders, Lynne Medlin (Larry); and many other family members.

He was predeceased by his sister, Connie Elaine Nates.

The funeral service was held 11 o’clock, Monday, May 20th, at Royal Pines Independent Holiness Church, 140 Wynette Way, Columbia, with The Rev. Nancy Brazell officiating. Burial was at Jackson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 7778 Two Notch Road. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 o’clock. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or South Carolina Oncology Associates, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC, 29210.
