COLUMBIA – A memorial Service for Ann Watson Barden, 69, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Barden, of Columbia, died Friday, March 8, 2013. Born, August 8, 1943, in Kershaw County, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Donald Watson and Clemmie Eloise Flaherty Watson.
Mrs. Barden retired from South Carolina State Government where she worked for the late Strom Thurmond. She was a former member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church where she was very active to include a Master Life Team Teacher and she taught Sunday School. She was a graduate of Coker College and following graduation, she coached Women’s Basketball at Coker College.
She is survived by her son, J. Robert Barden; grandchildren, Jordan Barden, McKenzie Barden, Ian Barden, Alexis Barden, Bryceson Barden, Mikayla Barden, Zachary Barden, Bianca Barden, Connor Barden, Blaine Barden and Gabriella Grace Barden. She is also survived by her twin brother, Steve F. Watson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Grace Watson; brothers, Row Watson and James Donald Watson Jr.
