Michael Ray Richardson Hawkins was born November 7, 1987 in Columbia, he was the son of Douglas Wesley Hawkins and Wanda Sue Richardson.

Michael Ray Richardson Hawkins, 24, of Elgin, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012.

He was a graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School and enjoyed racing, working on cars and fishing.

Surviving were his father, Douglas Wesley Hawkins of Raleigh, N.C.; mother, Wanda Richardson of Elgin; sister, Amanda Richardson Evans (Jonathan) of Elgin; brother, David Allen Richardson of Elgin; paternal-grandparents, Douglas and Nancy Hawkins of West Columbia; girlfriend, Casey Nicole Sammons; and nephews, Noah Evans, Jacob Richardson and Joseph Richardson.

He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Billy Richardson and Inez Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to Joseph Still Burn Center, 3675 J. Dewey Gray Circle, Suite 300, Augusta, Ga. 30909, to show gratitude for the excellent care Michael received.

Funeral service were held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Brandon Goff will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, July 20, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.
