Jo Hanks LeRoy

Jo Hanks LeRoy was born December 9, 1936 in Belton, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Alford Hanks and Gertrude Stuart Hanks.

Jo Hanks LeRoy, 73, of Elgin, died Monday, May 3, 2010.

She was one of the first twelve women to graduate from Clemson College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. She retired from F.N. Manufacturing as a Quality Assurance Technician.

Mrs. LeRoy was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Harry L. LeRoy; sons, Stuart B. LeRoy of Elgin, and Joey (Stacey) LeRoy of Elgin; granddaugther, Delaney LeRoy; sister-in-law, Elsie Hanks of Ocala, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Diana Wingard, Scott and Barbara Oberlies, Wade Oberlies, Eric and Susan Hanks, Teresa Hanks, Nancy Moorehead, Barbara Mureo, and John LeRoy; 3 great-nieces; 1 great-nephew; and 1 great-great niece. She was predeceased by her sister, Marlene Oberlies; and brother, Legare Hanks.

Memorial service was held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Elgin, S.C. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.

On April 29, 2020, Jo Hanks LeRoy was mentioned as the deceased wife in the obituary of Harry Louis LeRoy.
