LUGOFF – Funeral service for BMCS William David Cook, United States Navy (Ret.), 81, of Lugoff, will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010 in the Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home & Cremation Service chapel with Rev. Michael Cockrell officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery, Elgin, with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. January 10, 2010, at the funeral home. Mr. Cook died Thursday January 7, 2010. Born in Blaney, SC, he was the son of the late Ollie Cook and Mattie Goff Cook and widower of the late Virginia “Ginney” Hatch Cook. Mr. Cook loved Yankees’ baseball, was an avid fisherman, rebuilt Mustangs and was a Ford car enthusiast. Mr. Cook retired from the United States Navy as a chief after thirty years of service.
Mr. Cook is survived by his children, daughter, Shelley Fetterolf of Collingdale, PA; son, Mickey D. (Amy) Dobbins of Columbia; stepchildren, Kathy Gummelt (Michael), Laurie Rodgers and Michael Forrester; five grandchildren, Thomas Dobbins, Dennis Fetterolf, Dana Schubert, Sara Fetterolf and Dawn Strawbridge; six great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Cook of Camden. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Cook, Raymond Cook, Carl Cook and Owen Cook.
