
Funeral services for Robert “Bobby” Burdette Snyder, 78, will be held Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Brent Kendall and Rev. Richard Cameron will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel. Mr. Snyder died Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Born in Laurens, he was the son of the late Alfred Carlton Snyder and Gladys Moore Tollison. He had retired as Fire Chief of the Camden Fire Department after 40 years of service. He was a member of the SC Fire Chiefs Association, the SC Firemans Association, Board of Directors of the Camden Kershaw County Rescue Squad, past director of the Camden Kershaw County Rescue Squad, former instructor of the American Red Cross First Aid, former instructor at the SC Fire Academy, and former member of Inspection Association. Mr. Snyder was also Fireman of the Year in 1982 and 1985. He was a member of First Baptist Church and former member of the Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Mae Branham Snyder, son, Thomas C. “Jack” Snyder (Susan); daughter, Sheila Walters, Judy A. Hawkins (William) and Mary R. Moore; sister, Jean Eddings ; brothers, J.C. Tollison and Earl Tollison; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Donnie Walters; brother, Jack Snyder; sisters, Frances Atkinson and Doris Catoe.
